ULTRA-WIDE ANGLE LIGHT DIFFUSER EMPLOYING PERPENDICULAR GRID OF TIR CHANNELS

An advanced sheet-form diffuser which provides a very broad angular spread and improves color mixing while preserving the optical transmittance of an optically clear material. The diffuser features a perpendicular grid of deep and narrow channels which reflect off-axis light with high efficiency using the total internal reflection (TIR). It finds patticular utility in LED luminaires and high-performance skylights.

VARIABLE-BRIGHTNESS RETROREFLECTORS FOR ENHANCED CONSPICUITY

High-visibility retroreflective sheeting that flashes in variable brightness in the light of the approaching vehicle. The sheeting features a lenticular lens texture that exposes alternating strips of retroreflective and non-retroreflective areas as the observation angle changes. It can be designed to display different areas with flashing, flip or animation effects and uses no electricity to operate. It is particularly suitable for road signs and safety marking where high night-time visibility is critical.

LIGHT COLLECTING AND COLLIMATING LIGHT GUIDES (WAVEGUIDES)

Planar-type light guides that concentrate and collimate light. The light guides employ a lens arrays that shapes the light beam according to a prescribed angular pattern. In illumination applications, the collimating light guides can be designed to redistribute light from a light source, such as an LED strip, and emit a uniform directional beam from the broad surface of the light guide. In light harvesting applications, the light guide can be designed to collect light from its broad-area surface and concentrate on an edge or any prescribed location of the light guide. Such light guides are ideal for making flat illumination panels or backlights with enhances brightness as well as efficient radiation collectors with ultra-thin form factors.
